This is one of my series which I call La Belle Lumiere de Beaune. I visited the lovely town of Beaune in the Burgundy region of France last year. I was so impressed by the light that I immediately decided to paint a small series depicting the lovely villages of the region. The series shows the various times of day and evening scenes. I plan on expanding this series of various small villages in France. I am going to Quimpere this summer to explore the Western part of the country.
When you see this country you understand why the Impressionists were so successful in capturing the light. It is so fascinating and one becomes so engrossed with the colors and subtle atmosphere that it almost becomes an addiction for an artist. Well I know for this artist anyway.
